Subject    7/19/2018 - - Avocado
Body
  • Mexico supplies getting lighter and recent rains are impacting harvest.   Regular season is all but finished with the Flora Loca crop starting to scratch.

  • Market is moving up on 48's and larger.  We are seeing more of the #2 fruit available.  Currently peaking 48/70/60's.

  • Mexico will cross in July/August with the Flora Loca/off bloom fruit.

  • California Hass volume is down due to extreme temps.   This will also have an effect on fruit supplies down the road being lighter.

  • Shippers are keeping floor counts relatively clean. Crop is sizing mostly 48/60/70's.  Fruit is firm, ripening well with nice oil content and peak flavor.

  • Look for crop volume to start dropping off sharply the early part of August.   Demand has been good.

  • Large fruit will continue to get tighter and their market stronger. Peru is now arriving in the US and should help fill demand needs through Sept.

  • These are showing mostly 40/48/36's.... great for filling those larges size needs.

  • Chile is expected to start arriving in Aug and we will keep you posted as we get more info

Subject    7/19/2018 - - Lemons
Body
  • Lemons are in the Summer time mess...  with supplies in the dumps and market climbing.  DEMAND EXCEEDS!!!
  • Supplies are extremely tight and not expected to improve for a few months-- this is on all sizes.
  • Get your orders in early and be prepared to pro-rations and cuts.
  • This situation will not improve anytime soon, just get worse.  District 2 crop is off by almost 35%.
  • Imports are starting to show up a little (heavier on the east coast right now than west coast).  Most of the fruit from Chile will be fancy grade.
  • Mexico is also starting to cross some supplies this fruit is being gassed (for a while to get color) and is looking to peak on larger sizes--140 +.
  • The fruit from Chile and Mexico hopefully will take a little of the pressure off domestic shortages.
  • But don't look for many market breaks.... this fruit too will be expensive.

Subject    7/19/2018 - - Oranges
Body
  • California navels continue to wind down with few shippers having light supplies shipping to very few customers.
  • They could be done by the end of this month.
  • California valencias are moving at a normal pace.
  • Fruit is good but we are seeing more green on the fruit pushing it to gas a little more on it before shipping.
  • That will make fruit a little weak and will show signs of stem end aging.
  • This is typical for this time of year when we experience much warmer temperatures here in the valley.
  • We may also see a little bit of tightness in the market as picking will be hindered because of excessive heat coming our way.
