Subject    11/20/2018 - - Apples
Body
  • Pretty much all shippers are done packing c.a. storage apples from the 2017-2018 crop. All other varieties are now new crop in the northwest.
  • Small sizes 100's/smaller are tighter & almost non-existent on Granny Smith & Golden Delicious.
  • Most small Granny Smith are currently being found in California. Food service sizes 113-198's on most varieties will be tight this season in WA.
  • Michigan has a larger crop & has the smaller sizing this season compared to the Northwest. Overall, quality has been good.
  • There are issues with bitter pit & shippers are repacking prior to shipment.
  • Pricing is beginning to go up on many varieties as they move into c.a. storage. Export is also driving the prices up.

  • Eastern WA has good availability of Yellow & Red potatoes. Organic Red and Yellows are available in Eastern WA as well.
