  • There continues to be large volumes of big sized Red Delicious at a discounted prices. There are discounts on most grades from sizes 48, 56 , & 64's.
  • Granny Smith 100's & smaller are extremely hard to find. The demand is dictating the higher prices on them.
  • Washington is still competing with the Mid-West on delivered pricing on a few varieties.
  • Overall, freight rates have come down to a more reasonable cost. Movement has been steady.

      • Quality is good on the pears. Like the apples, small pears have become tight on sizes 120 through 150's on D'Anjou.
      • Movement is steady on the larger sizes, but there is more demand for the smaller ones. NW Bartletts are almost wrapped up for the season.
      • We are starting to see pricing on Argentine imports. Overall, the pear market is doing well..

      • Colored potato supplies continue to be stable with good supplies. 
      • White potato supplies finished for the season in the Northwest. South California has a limited supply. 
      • Red, Yellow, and Purple potatoes are available along with Red and Yellow Fingerling potatoes.
      • Eastern WA has supplies of Red and Yellows as well. Prices are a bit more aggressive in this district. Color is a bit less. 
      • All colors of Organic colored potatoes and fingerlings are available.

  • An overabundance of onions continues to keep prices down.  Because of the low FOB's, Mexico shipments have actually declined.  
  • New Crop Texas onions are stated to begin two weeks earlier this season.
  • Overall, yellow prices are becoming steady - not to be confused with firm. Look for deals on volume of jumbo yellows. 
  • Keep in mind that spring is just around the corner along with new crop from Texas very soon and California in April.  
  • The growers need to move this storage crop so product is priced accordingly. 
  • Red market holding steady at a lower price this week. White onion prices have tapered off and holding at this new lower level.
  • All colors of ORGANIC onions available. Prices continue to fall.

      • The market is definitely softer due to primarily the lack of demand.
      • While supplies have not been over abundant, they’ve been more than adequate to handle the so-so demand.
      • Both bunched and crowns are currently promotable.
      • Desert quality remains your best bet as coastal product is showing continuing issues due to the winter rains (pin rot).
      • With only six to eight weeks left in the desert deal, we’ll most likely see ups and downs in supplies.

          • We have a new storm expected to hit Thurs/Fri and last approx. 5 days with rain fall here in Fresno/Tulare Co around 2”.
          • Then rain down in the Bakersfield/So Calif area around 4-5”.  This is going to make ALL CITRUS supplies very short. 
          • Shippers are going to do there best to cover current orders. There will be prorates. 
          • Orders for next week will be subject to availability and flexibility. 
          • Shippers aren’t expecting to get back into the fields until probably late next week. 
          • This combined with mid 60 temperatures  there will be issues showing up on the fruit when it gets picked.
          • Navel sugar and color are good as are sizing. 
          • You are likely to see some puff and crease in the box as well as the occasional fuzz ball (even on fresh packed). 
          • Fruit continues to peaking 88/72 and we are starting to see more 48's and larger. 
          • Due to limited fruit picking the market is up and will likely continue this way for the balance of the month due to light supplies.
          • Cara Cara (the Pink Orange) sizing is similar to navels but peaking 88/113/138. Sizing will improve when they finally get in to pick. 
          • Packing in full & half cartons.
          • Bloods color is nice with sizing is peaking 113/88's selling out fast due to light supplies picked.

        • Offshore Red and Green Seedless are available either consolidated or loading in the LA area  Supplies are good on Green. 
        • Market is spread based on berry size with shippers looking to move on smaller berry sizes.  
        • Red seedless are lightening up for the next few weeks; look for Crimsons to start arriving in March which will help this market.  
        • Berry size and color are very nice.

      • Specialty items like all Citrus are trying to harvest between storms... not a easy feat.
      • Mandarins color & sugar are very nice and can be packed to order in SNOBOY bags. Call for availability and pricing on your next order.
      • Ruby/Rio Grapefruit are available heavier to small sizes with light supplies and color overall.
      • Minneola's color is a nice deep orange with sizes peaking 100/80/125's.  Flavor is great and demand is strong. 
      • Crews are trying to get into fields, some shipper have light supplies, call for availability.

      • Mexico continues to cross but numbers are way down. They have readjusted their crop estimates last week down from the original estimates. 
      • Based on normal demand we anticipate the crop to be short for the next 4-5 months.
      • Market has moved up and strengthened considerably in the last 7 days in hopes to slow demand. 
      • Shippers hope slowing of demand will aid in stretching supplies so to avoid gaps experienced last summer. 
      • You can expect the market to continue increasing over the next month in response to this decrease in volume. 
      • Quality is good and fruit is performing well.  Pro-rations may be needed on large sizes.
      • California continues to harvest very light volumes (nowhere near demand). Rains continuing to size fruit. 
      • Calif is still not expected to have any real volume until late March/Early April.
